Please advise if 1) you do criminal checks before employing a new staff member 2) do you have any considerations if the report comes back with some type of criminal record / adverse finding 3) do you have a policy in place for guidance? Thank you! Rika Rodd (HSFA)

@5044 Hi Rika,
We do ciminal checks on all our staff.
If criminal record check comes back with ‘Possible Risk Identified’ we will go into consultation with the individual to obtain more information and proof of any cases against him/her or cases in which he/she might have been involved in. If he/she was found guilty of any crime, possibility for employment ceases immediately.
If he/she was not found guilty, the company might consider continuing the employment process based on merit, e.g. when a lady got a restraining order against an ex-husband.
We dont have a specific policy but manage it on a case by case basis.
